Crawling – Transitioning – Sitting independently
Don’t put your child to sit
When a child crawls she’s also ready to sit independently and to transition to various positions. This is very important. A child should not be put to sit before she can come to sit by herself as she is likely to fall over. Neither bones nor balance are ready for that. Sitting up a child before she can do it herself does damage to the skeleton and is counterproductive to development.
Children learn by feeling
Children experiment all the time. They learn by feeling. Their body gets mapped in the brain. Their self image develops. Connections between head and pelvis and all other body parts become clearer.
By crawling the eye-hand coordination develops further and the hands get connected to the shoulders and to the spine. This is very important for fine motor skills.
